Chemical and physical compatibility between fittings and the pipeline eliminates differences in thermal expansion coefficients and prevents galvanic corrosion cells.

This group is organized into five specialized sub-ranges: 1) mechanical compression fittings for pressurized networks with fast tool-free assembly; 2) butt-fusion fittings for transmission mains; 3) electrofusion fittings with embedded heating coils for gas distribution; 4) tapping saddles for live branching; and 5) corrugated fittings for gravity sewer conduits.

For mechanical compression fittings, chamfering the pipe cut and lubricating the entry point are vital for proper O-ring seat positioning. For welded fittings, face trimming and strict compliance with heating and cooling cycles ensure weld integrity.

In corrugated installations, seating the elastomeric ring cleanly in the specified corrugation valley prevents seal displacement during socket insertion.
