What flat-emitter drip tape is
Instead of a simple slit, flat-emitter drip tape has a small flat emitter bonded to the inside wall at regular intervals. Water passes through the emitter's winding path before it leaves, which takes up pressure, so the flow along the row is more even than with slit tape.
This tape is chosen for longer rows, gently sloping ground and crops where even watering matters more, such as greenhouse and field vegetables, strawberries and leafy greens. It is installed and connected like slit tape, using drip tape connectors on the main or lateral pipe.
Slit tape or flat-emitter tape?
Slit tape is more economical and is enough for most row crops on level ground with rows of normal length. Flat-emitter tape costs more but spreads water more evenly along the row, and its emitter resists clogging better than a plain slit.
If your rows are long, the ground slopes or the water quality is poor, flat-emitter tape is the safer choice. To decide between the two, tell our sales team your crop, row length and water pressure.
Emitter spacing and installation notes
Emitters are spaced at 10, 15, 20 or 30 cm, which should match the plant spacing and soil texture; 20 cm is the most common choice. Lay the tape with the emitters facing up, fit a suitable filter at the head of the system and set the inlet pressure.
