Types of drip tape: slit and flat-emitter
Slit drip tape, with fine slits along the tape, is the most economical type and the most used on vegetable farms. Flat-emitter tape has a flat emitter inside and spreads water more evenly along long rows.
Slit tape is known by the weight of a 1000 m roll: 9, 9.5, 10, 10.5 and 11 kg. A heavier roll means a thicker wall and more resistance; the 10 kg tape is the most popular choice.
Drip tape outlet spacing
Outlets are spaced at 10, 15, 20 or 30 cm. 20 cm is common for most vegetable crops, 10 cm for sandy soils and dense planting, and 30 cm for heavier soils. Every spacing is supplied in every roll weight.
