PE Gas Pipe (SDR11)

Polyethylene gas pipe is used for natural gas distribution networks in city streets, housing estates and villages, and for customer service lines. It is made to ISO 4437, EN 1555-2 and the requirements of the National Iranian Gas Company IGS standard, with dimensions in the SDR11 series.

The yellow colour, or yellow stripes on black pipe, distinguishes gas pipe from water and sewer pipe so it can be identified in later excavation. Corrosion resistance, flexibility and fully fused joints make polyethylene the usual choice for buried gas networks.

This product is offered in both PE80 and PE100 with the same SDR11 dimensions. PE100, thanks to its stronger compound, gives a larger safety margin under the same conditions and is preferred for higher-pressure networks.

Note that the allowable pressure of a pipe in gas service is not the same as its PN rating for water, because gas design uses a larger safety factor. The maximum operating pressure of each line is set by the gas company's rules and the design consultant.

Selling pipe to gas projects usually requires the manufacturer to hold gas company approval. Before purchasing, ask our sales team for the documents your project needs so they match the gas inspector's requirements.

Gas pipes are joined by electrofusion or butt fusion, by qualified welders only. Yellow pipe is more sensitive to sunlight than black pipe, so store it under cover and avoid long exposure. Follow the installation code for warning tape and clearance from other utilities.
