Solid-Wall PE Sewer Pipe

Solid-wall sewer pipe is a polyethylene pipe with a smooth, solid wall used for sewer collection and transfer lines, especially where fully sealed joints matter. It is dimensioned to EN 12666 and ISO 4427 and can be ordered in large diameters up to 1200 mm.

Unlike socketed pipe, these pipes are butt-fused into a continuous line. This makes them a good choice for high groundwater, unstable soils, river and road crossings, and routes where sewage must not leak out or groundwater leak in.

This product comes in SDR 26, 33 and 41 and in PE80 and PE100. A lower SDR means a thicker wall, higher ring stiffness and higher allowable pressure. These series are in the low-pressure range (PN4 to PN6 in PE100) and suit gravity and low-pressure lines.

When choosing SDR, consider burial depth and soil and traffic loads as well as any line pressure; at depth or under roads, a thicker wall reduces deflection. The final choice rests with the designer.

These pipes are joined by butt fusion: pipe ends are faced, aligned, melted on a heater plate and fused under controlled pressure. Welding parameters (temperature, pressure and cooling time) must follow the machine procedure for the wall thickness.

Pipes are supplied in 6 m and 12 m bars. The line can be welded beside the trench and then lowered in, reducing time spent working in the trench. Compact the bedding and surround in even layers.
